FAQs

1. What size RV cover do I need?

Choose an RV cover based on your RV’s complete exterior length, width, and body height. Measure from the farthest front point to the farthest rear point, including the bumper, ladder, and spare tire, but excluding the hitch. Select a cover whose size range includes your actual RV length.

For example, if your RV measures 31 feet from end to end, choose a cover designed for 30–33 ft RVs rather than a 27–30 ft cover.

2. How do I measure my RV for a cover?

Measure the RV in three dimensions:

  • Length: Measure from the farthest front point to the farthest rear point, including ladders, bumpers, and spare tires. Do not include the hitch.
  • Width: Measure the widest part of the RV, including fixed side features.
  • Height: Measure from the bottom of the RV body to the highest point of the roof.

Roof-mounted accessories such as air conditioners and vents normally should not be included unless the product’s size guide specifically says otherwise.

3. Should an RV cover be tight or loose?

An RV cover should fit securely without being stretched tightly against sharp edges. A cover that is too loose may flap in the wind and wear prematurely, while an undersized cover may place excessive pressure on seams and corners.

Use the adjustable straps, buckles, and tension panels to create a close fit after the cover has been placed over the RV.

4. Are MOFCOVER RV covers waterproof?

MOFCOVER RV covers are designed to provide strong protection against rain and moisture. Their water-resistant materials and protective membranes help prevent water from reaching the RV during outdoor storage.

However, an RV cover must also remain breathable. Air vents allow trapped moisture and condensation to escape, helping reduce the risk of mold and mildew.

5. Can an RV cover protect against snow?

Yes. A properly fitted RV cover helps protect the vehicle from snow, ice, dirt, moisture, and UV exposure during winter storage. Snow should still be removed periodically because excessive accumulation may place unnecessary weight on the RV roof and cover.

Do not use sharp tools to remove snow, as they may puncture the fabric.

6. How do I keep an RV cover from tearing in the wind?

To reduce wind damage, tighten every strap and buckle so the cover stays close to the RV body. Secure the front, rear, side, and wraparound straps, and make sure loose fabric cannot flap continuously.

Cover sharp gutters, corners, ladders, and other protrusions with the included gutter protectors or soft padding before installation. Check and retighten the straps after strong winds.

7. What is the difference between a non-woven and an Oxford RV cover?

Non-woven RV covers are generally lightweight, breathable, and easy to install. They are suitable for routine seasonal storage and help protect against sun, rain, snow, dust, and debris.

Oxford fabric is woven and typically offers greater tear and abrasion resistance. It is often the better choice for long-term outdoor storage or locations exposed to strong wind and harsh weather.

8. What do 210D, 300D and 420D mean?

The “D” stands for denier, a measurement related to the thickness of the fibers used in the fabric. In general, a higher denier indicates a heavier and more abrasion-resistant fabric, although coating, weaving method, seams, and overall construction also affect performance.

A well-constructed 300D or 420D Oxford cover may offer better tear resistance than a lighter fabric, but denier alone does not determine the cover’s total quality.

9. Should I include the air conditioner when measuring RV height?

Normally, measure the height of the RV body from the bottom edge to the roofline and exclude roof-mounted accessories such as air conditioners, vents, and antennas. Most RV covers are designed with additional room for common rooftop equipment.

Always compare your measurement with the dimensions listed on the specific product page before ordering.

10. Can I enter my RV while the cover is installed?

Many MOFCOVER RV covers include roll-up zippered access panels. These panels allow you to enter the RV or inspect storage compartments without removing the entire cover.

Check the product images and description to confirm the number and position of access panels, as their placement varies by RV type and cover size.

11. How long can I leave an RV cover on?

An RV cover can remain installed throughout seasonal or long-term storage when it is fitted and secured correctly. Inspect the cover periodically, especially after heavy wind, rain, or snow.

Keep the air vents unobstructed, remove accumulated snow, and adjust loose straps when necessary.

12. Can I drive with an RV cover installed?

No. A full RV storage cover must be removed before driving or towing the RV. It is designed for stationary storage, not for use while the vehicle is moving.

Driving with the cover installed may damage the cover, the RV, or nearby vehicles.

13. How do I install an RV cover correctly?

Clean and dry the RV before installation, retract antennas and awnings, and pad all sharp corners. Identify the front and rear labels, unfold the cover on the roof, and gradually lower it over both sides.

After positioning the cover, connect and tighten all straps and buckles. The cover should sit securely without excessive tension on seams or corners.

14. What should I do if my RV is between two cover sizes?

Choose the smallest size range that fully accommodates the RV’s complete measured length. Do not select an undersized cover, as stretching may damage the seams and fabric.

If your measurement is exactly at the upper limit or your RV has a large rear ladder or spare tire, contact MOFCOVER before ordering to confirm the best size.

15. What is the best RV cover for outdoor storage?

The best cover depends on the RV type, climate, storage duration, and exposure to wind. For long-term outdoor storage or windy areas, choose a reinforced Oxford cover with adjustable straps, air vents, protected seams, and padded gutter covers.

For lighter seasonal use, a breathable multilayer non-woven cover may provide a practical balance of protection, weight, and ease of installation.
